Lesley Warner ceramics
Working with iron-rich terracotta clay on the potter's wheel my work starts with a morning swim in the North Sea in Scarborough's South Bay.
I swim, then I draw and write, and finally I make the piece that tells the story of that day's swim...... the way the water felt, the light on the sea, or being hit by a wave.
One-off sculptural pieces are accompanied by their own mini-sketchbook, giving the story of that day's swim.
Other smaller pieces - including bowls and mini-waves (and mugs if you insist!) take inspiration from my favourite watery landscape.
